College Physics Answers (collegephysicsanswers.com) is operated by Shaun Dychko (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices and rights you have. We collect only what we need to run the service, we do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
When you create an account we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. Your account also includes a username (auto-assigned, and changeable by you) and, optionally, the school you attend.
Subscriptions are billed by Stripe. Subscriptions started before our platform migration are billed by Braintree (a PayPal service). Your card number is entered directly into the payment processor’s systems and never touches our servers. We store the customer and subscription identifiers the processor assigns to you, your subscription status, and your invoice history. To prevent abuse of the free trial, we also store a non-reversible identifier of your payment method (a “fingerprint” provided by the processor) — this cannot be used to reconstruct your card details or to charge you.
To provide features like watch history, “continue watching”, ratings, and comments, we record which solutions you visit, your video playback progress, the ratings you give, the comments you post, and your interactions with interactive practice content. This information is linked to your account.
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used and to detect errors. Analytics events include pages viewed, interface interactions, application errors, and technical details such as browser type. We derive your country from your IP address (via our hosting provider) to apply the correct privacy rules; depending on your cookie consent (see below), analytics may run in a cookieless, anonymous mode that does not identify you.
For visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, and Quebec, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (account and billing data), legitimate interest (fraud prevention, essential operations), and consent (analytics cookies).
We share personal information only with the service providers below, only as needed to run the site. None of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes such as advertising.
Some of these providers are located in the United States. Where required, transfers from the EU/EEA/UK are protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards in our agreements with these providers.

You can change your choice at any time via the control (also in the footer of every page). Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
We keep your account and usage information for as long as your account exists. Billing records (invoices, subscription history) are retained after account deletion where required for tax and accounting obligations. Payment-method fingerprints are retained to keep free-trial abuse prevention effective. Analytics data is retained in PostHog per its standard retention schedule and is not kept indefinitely.
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information by emailing support@collegephysicsanswers.com from the email address on the account. We will delete your account data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.
You have all the rights above, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We respond to requests within one month.
You have rights of access, rectification, and de-indexation, and the right to withdraw consent. Analytics is opt-in for Quebec visitors, as described above.
You have the right to know, correct, and delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use ad-tech tracking, so there is nothing to opt out of beyond the analytics controls above. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@collegephysicsanswers.com. We may ask you to verify ownership of the account’s email address before acting on a request.
The service is intended for high-school and college students and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and record the change in the changelog below. Continued use of the site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
